All New Beutel Elementary, Lake Jackson, TX
When a Lake Jackson newspaper reporter asked a 4th grader about her old school she summed up the aging building as only a 8-year old could: “It’s rusty and this is not rusty at all."
The all-new A.P. Beutel Elementary School replaced an outdated facility which originally opened in 1958. Designed by architecture firm Corgan Associates Inc., the new facility was build alongside the existing school and brings a fresh, state-of-the-art learning environment to the Brazosport ISD. Featuring split-face architectural masonry units in key accent areas, the new masonry school is designed to serve 750 students. Officials cut the ribbon in October 2017 to celebrate the opening of the new campus.
“The students and staff were so excited,” Superintendent Danny Massey told the The Facts newspaper.
“The new campus has more playgrounds, flexible furniture in each classroom, collaboration areas, wet lab, outdoor learning spaces, grocery store, gymnasium, and sensory room.”Keeping up with today's design trends, the new campus also includes enhanced safety and security measures, including a security vestibule where visitors must show ID before entering the campus. Across Brazosport ISD’s 19 campuses, the system serves 12,400 students.
